Die Bestimmung von Borrelienantikörpern (Typ IgG) im Blut mittels Immunoblot ist ein weiterführendes Bestätigungsverfahren im Rahmen der Abklärung einer sogenannten „Zecken-Borreliose“. Bei dieser Erkrankung handelt es sich um eine Infektion mit Bakterien der Gruppe „Borrelia burgdorferi“, die durch Zecken übertragen werden.
